Russian President Vladimir Putin, for the first time, provided detailed information about the talks held in Moscow with US Special Representative Steve Whitkoff and Donald Trump's political advisor Jared Kushner. According to him, the meeting was very long, and the parties were forced to discuss each clause of the peace plan proposed by Trump separately.
Putin emphasized that the peace plan brought by the US delegation to Moscow was largely based on the agreements reached with Trump in Alaska. In these negotiations, the Americans proposed to divide the peace plan, consisting of 27 points, into 4 separate packages, each of which will be discussed in stages. Moscow called this approach "understandable and practical," but a final decision on the result has not yet been made.
According to the Russian president, the country has made several proposals to Ukraine to abandon the war. For example, withdrawing troops from Donbas to Kyiv and warning Ukraine not to "go on the offensive," but Ukraine insisted on choosing its own military path. Putin also expressed confidence that Russia will liberate Donbas and Novorossiya by any means, including military ones.
According to Putin's statements, although the negotiations between Moscow and the US are "useful and meaningful," no concrete agreement has yet been reached on ending the war. Russia does not intend to abandon its military objectives in Ukraine, and US mediation through Trump has not yet yielded results.
The main goal for Russia in this process is the return of troops from Ukraine on their terms and the liberation of Donbas and Novorossiya, which are part of the country.
