According to Japanese officials, J-15 fighters launched from China’s Liaoning aircraft carrier targeted Japanese military aircraft with radar. The incident occurred near the Okinawa islands, and the Japanese government issued an official protest to China.
Japanese Defense Minister Shinjiro Koizumi stated that China’s actions would receive a “firm and calm” response. Koizumi emphasized the importance of ensuring the safety of military personnel and maintaining regional stability. At the same time, a Chinese military representative said that Japanese aircraft disrupted China’s exercises and called Japan’s statement incorrect.
Australian Defense Minister also expressed concern over China’s actions alongside Japan and stressed readiness to cooperate to maintain regional peace. Recently, China-Japan relations have become more tense, especially following statements by the Japanese Prime Minister regarding Taiwan.
According to Japan, the radar sends a potential attack signal to another aircraft, forcing pilots to take precautionary measures. In response, Japan deployed F-15 fighters. Experts consider this military encounter one of the most serious in recent years.
