American Sam Kirschner, who actively participated in the movement to limit artificial intelligence, has been missing for two weeks. According to Atlantic, he was one of the founders of Stop AI group, which had been demanding to stop developing artificial superintelligence.
Kirschner initially emphasized his opposition to violence, but over time he deviated from this principle and was excluded from action. Stop AI CEO Matthew Hall says he has argued with the team at recent meetings, even personally arguing over money. Therefore, the group members contacted the police.
Kirschner did not appear at the scheduled court hearing for blocking the OpenAI office in February. When he entered his house, the door was open, there was no bicycle, but the phone and laptop remained in place - which makes the story even more mysterious.
According to San Francisco Standard, police recorded two phone warnings alleging that Kirshner had threatened OpenAI employees. His acquaintances suggest that he might have been hiding in a tent.
This is happening at a time when debates around artificial intelligence are intensifying, and countries are transitioning to stricter control over the internet and digital space.
