An unexpected incident occurred during a demonstration in the famous Hangzhou safari park in China's Zhejiang province. Video footage quickly circulating on the internet shows a black bear instantly lunging at an animal trainer and knocking him to the ground. This incident caused a great stir on social media.
According to reports, there were two bears on the scene and two staff members working with them. After the performance ended, the bear suddenly jumped on one of the trainers and knocked him over. Other officers tried to separate the animal from the trainer using chairs and sticks, but after the bear broke away, they tried to attack again.
The park administration's official statement emphasized that neither the animal trainer nor the bear sustained serious injuries during the incident.
According to preliminary assumptions, the trainer carried with him food, such as carrots and apples, which were used as a reward during training. The bear, sensing the smell of food, might have attacked the trainer specifically to eat these products.
After the incident, the park management decided to temporarily suspend the bear's participation in theatrical shows.
