On December 8, a powerful 6.7 magnitude earthquake struck the coast of Aomori Prefecture in northeastern Japan. This incident was linked to the tsunami threat at a height of 1 meter, which was announced by the country's National Meteorological Administration. The earthquake occurred at a depth of 20 km and threatened Japan's Miyagi, Iwate, and Aomori prefectures, as well as the Hokkaydo Islands.
Thus, another powerful earthquake occurred in this area on December 8, followed by a tsunami after the previous conflict with a magnitude of 7.5. About 40 people were injured in the incident. Seismologists are now saying that strong aftershocks, that is, repeated earthquakes, may occur.
