Putin: Russia not responsible for people’s deaths

Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke on December 19 about military actions in Ukraine and international relations. He said he is ready to ensure the safety of elections in Ukraine and to consider avoiding strikes within the country.
Putin emphasized that Russia is not responsible for the deaths of people but did not start the war. He also said that Ukrainians living in Russia should have the right to participate in elections.
The president said Russians donated 83 billion rubles ($900 million) for the war and called questions about NATO and Europe “nonsense.” He also noted that Russia is not mentioned as an enemy in the new US National Security Strategy.
Putin said that if assets between Russia and European countries are seized, Russia has the right to defend itself in courts. He is ready to cooperate with the UK, Europe, and the US, but only on the basis of equal rights and mutual respect.
