US Secretary of Defense Pete Haggett made an open and controversial statement about the main difficulties encountered in recruiting young people into the American army. He addressed this issue during a meeting with recruiters at the Pentagon.
According to the minister, despite existing problems, record results have been achieved in recruiting new recruits into the US Armed Forces. However, he emphasized that this process is not easy and noted that there are many problems among young people related to their physical and educational level.
"I know it's not easy. Everyone knows the main problems: a very large number of young people are not physically ready or have an insufficient level of education," said Pete Heggett in his speech.
Initially, the minister's words sounded very harsh and caused controversy in the public. After that, he clarified his point and admitted that the phrases used were inappropriate.
"The definition of 'fool' is incorrect. "The real problem is that some young people are not sufficiently educated or have problems such as attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder," the minister explained.
Pete Hegset emphasized that the issue of replenishing the US Army is directly related not only to the military but also to the education and healthcare systems. Therefore, solving these problems requires a comprehensive approach.
