
U.S. President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said there has been progress in talks aimed at ending the war in Ukraine. After the meeting held in Florida, Trump said the sides are close to a peace agreement, but some issues remain unresolved.
During the meeting, the issue of Ukraine’s future security was discussed. Zelenskiy said an agreement had been reached on this matter. Trump noted that the issue is nearly fully agreed, with European countries expected to play a leading role, while the United States will provide support.
The future of the Donbas region remains the most difficult issue. Russia wants to take control of the area, while Ukraine supports maintaining the current situation. Trump said there is no final decision yet, but negotiations are continuing.
Before the meeting, Trump spoke by phone with Russian President Vladimir Putin. European countries also supported the peace talks, stressing the importance of ending the war as soon as possible. The sides expect that the outcome of the negotiations will become clear in the coming weeks.
