US not planning further steps in Venezuela as casualties reported

Reports say Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro was detained by US personnel and taken to the United States to face criminal prosecution. After that, Washington does not intend to carry out additional actions on Venezuelan territory. This was reported by podrobno.uz.reports.

Senator Mike Lee, citing Marco Rubio, said the operation’s main goal was to detain Maduro. He noted that the military actions mentioned were solely aimed at ensuring the safety of the personnel who carried out the arrest, and there are no plans to expand the operation or continue the military phase.

The New York Times, citing Venezuelan officials, wrote that US strikes resulted in deaths and injuries. The exact number has not yet been disclosed.

The US administration stresses that Maduro must stand trial. According to the deputy secretary of state, he will be held legally accountable for his crimes.

It was also noted that, in response to US actions, officials from a number of countries and international organizations expressed concern about the situation.
