The ceasefire agreement reached between Thailand and Cambodia is being implemented step by step. This was announced by China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Beijing noted that both sides are seeking to resolve the situation peacefully without escalating tensions.
According to Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian, both countries must ensure that the ceasefire is fully implemented and sustained over the long term. China stated that it supports stability and security in the region.
It was also reported that Thailand has returned 18 soldiers to Cambodia. This step is seen as a sign of restoring trust between the parties and commitment to the agreement.
For reference, Thailand and Cambodia reached a ceasefire agreement for the second time at the end of December. This agreement ended several weeks of border clashes and is helping to stabilize the situation in the region.
