Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed another sharp and controversial opinion on the topic of increasing pressure on Russia. According to him, the US may also conduct a military operation to capture Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov to stop the war and influence Vladimir Putin. Zelenskyy stated this in a conversation with journalists, suggesting that "such an action could also exist as an option."
In his explanation, Zelenskyy cited the incident involving Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro as an example. His logic is simple: "If such drastic actions are taken quickly and demonstratively, Putin might see this and become thoughtful." Reuters writes that US President Donald Trump made statements about the operation in Venezuela and Maduro's arrest.
At the same time, Zelenskyy's main emphasis is that Washington has sufficient tools for "real pressure," but Ukraine should be a priority in US policy. He emphasized that Trump's representatives are currently negotiating with Russia, but Kyiv believes the process resembles "stretching time."
Various publications are writing that Kadyrov has become less visible to the public in recent months. Some sources suggest that his health deteriorated (there are different versions).
For now, the most important nuance is this: the "operation" Zelenskyy mentioned is not an official plan or approved decision, but a political signal and harsh rhetoric. But such statements still heat up the background: on the one hand, negotiations are being discussed, and on the other, it seems that pressure instruments are being mentioned more and more loudly. Therefore, in the coming weeks, in the US-Russia-Ukraine triangle, each statement may become part of a larger game, not just a "simple statement."
