Will "one bank - one account" be introduced for migrants in Russia?

Deputy of the State Duma of Russia Lugovoy put forward an initiative to limit the number of bank accounts for migrants. According to the proposal, it is proposed to introduce the principle of "one person - one bank - one account" for foreign citizens. This will limit migrants' ability to open accounts simultaneously in multiple banks.

The proposal also provides for a review of the procedure for opening a bank account. In particular, it was noted that the opening of an account for migrants can be carried out only on the basis of an international passport (passport for traveling abroad). This is explained by the fact that it is aimed at tightening the process of identification and verification of documents.

So far, it has not been disclosed that this initiative is at the level of a proposal, and specific details about when and in what form it will be submitted for discussion.
