It was reported that another high-ranking official from Assad's time was detained following the operation in Hasaka

The State News Agency SANA, citing the Syrian Ministry of Internal Affairs, reported that the Damascus Regional Internal Security Command, in cooperation with the Counter-Terrorism Department, conducted a joint operation near the Hasakah region. As a result, former Major General Rateb Ali Ghanemi, who served as Deputy Head of the Military Security Department from 2010 to 2014, was arrested.
According to the Ministry's Telegram message, preliminary investigations revealed that Ghanemi held several security posts. In particular, before becoming Deputy Head of the Sa'sa Department, he headed the Military Security Department in Hasaka. It is noted that he was directly appointed to these positions by Bashar al-Assad.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs stated that at that time, Ghanemi was suspected of participating in the suppression of protests, the arrest of many citizens, and the implementation of repressive measures related to the violation of fundamental rights and freedoms. It is noted that these cases led to a gross violation of the fundamental rights of citizens. After Assad's regime was overthrown, it is assumed that he may have joined Kurdish armed formations YPG/SDF.
