Orascom Interested in Developing Value-Added Chains in Uzbekistan’s Sugar Industry

A delegation of one of Egypt’s largest investment companies — Orascom Investment (Nile Sugar) — arrived in Uzbekistan on a business trip. During the visit, company representatives toured the country’s leading soft drink manufacturers and reviewed production capacities, raw material needs, and technological processes. This was reported by uzdaily.uz reports .

At the meetings, the parties discussed expanding sugar production in Uzbekistan, ensuring stable supply of high-quality products to the domestic market, and increasing the share of locally sourced raw materials in the finished-product chain. The Egyptian side expressed interest in purchasing Uzbek sugar directly for use in soft drink production.

It is expected that this cooperation model will help ensure uninterrupted supply of affordable, high-quality sugar to large enterprises, create a stable market for the local sugar industry, reduce import volumes, and expand the value-added chain. This approach aligns with Uzbekistan’s policy of developing the food industry, attracting foreign investment, and deepening industrial integration.
