In Saint Petersburg, a morgue chief was detained for selling bodies

Yesterday, on February 6, the head of the morgue at the Alexandrovskaya Hospital in Saint Petersburg, Andrey Kavetsky, was detained. TASS reported this. He is suspected of illegally selling the bodies of the deceased and body parts to a private company.

According to the investigation, Kavetsky provided bodies and biomaterials to the “Anabioz” company in exchange for a bribe of about 500,000 rubles per month. The company’s founder, Stanislav Maslov, had also been detained earlier.

Investigators found that the biomaterials were used as samples for cosmetology, dentistry, and surgical practice. According to reports, the bodies in many cases belonged to people who had no relatives. It was reported that the suspects will remain in custody at least until April 4.
