Italian farmer allegedly burns wife alive in car

A fatal incident in the Apulia region of Italy has shaken the nation. A 48-year-old farmer allegedly first struck his 47-year-old partner with a heavy object on the head, and then set her on fire alive inside the family car. The event occurred on September 27, 2024, near the city of San Severo.
Police reported that the suspect initially called to present the act as a traffic accident. However, the investigation confirmed that this tragic event was a premeditated murder.
According to the investigation, the woman first lost consciousness and was then placed in a Fiat 500 vehicle. Forensic examination confirmed that she was alive during the fire — traces of carbon monoxide were found in her lungs, indicating she was still breathing. The weapon used in the murder was not found.
Currently, the suspect has been arrested on charges of premeditated murder, and the investigation is ongoing. Investigators are expanding their search to uncover all the details of the crime.
