Dubai flights halted amid UAE drone attacks

Flights at Dubai International Airport were disrupted on Monday after a drone strike caused a fire near the airport, forcing authorities to divert some aircraft and temporarily suspend operations. Dubai officials said emergency crews quickly brought the blaze under control near a fuel tank area and reported no injuries at the site. Reports Aljazeera.com.

Elsewhere in the UAE, Abu Dhabi authorities said a missile hit a civilian vehicle in the Al Bahyan area, killing one person identified as a Palestinian national. In Fujairah, another drone strike caused a fire in an industrial zone, with civil defence teams working to contain the flames. No injuries were reported there.

The latest incidents add to growing pressure across the Gulf as Iran continues missile and drone attacks following joint US and Israeli strikes on Tehran on February 28. Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar and Saudi Arabia also said they had intercepted incoming threats. Saudi officials reported destroying several waves of drones in the country’s east.

The UAE has been among the hardest hit in the conflict, with officials saying Iran has launched more than 1,800 missiles and drones toward the country since the war began. Gulf states, joined by the United Kingdom and Jordan, have condemned the attacks and called for de-escalation, while UAE and Saudi leaders vowed to defend their territories.
