On April 16, the incident occurred at a liquor store located on 209th Street in the Gaziosmanpasha neighborhood of the Altyeylul district. This was reported by CNN Türk.
Two men on motorcycles opened fire. The bullets hit Semih Kachmaz, a researcher at the Faculty of Law of Balıkesir University, who was eating at a nearby shop. The wounded Kachmaz was taken to the Balıkesir Atatürk City Hospital by paramedics. Despite all efforts, it was impossible to save him.
Following the incident, teams from the Balikesir Regional Police Department launched an investigation, checking security camera footage from 60 businesses, as well as recordings from the City Security Management System (KGYS) and the State Number Identification System (PTS). The investigation identified the suspects as T.K. and A.S.
It was established that the suspects fled to the Bandirma district after the incident. Coordinated by the Prosecutor General's Office, the police launched an operation to target suspects whose locations have been established.
The suspects were apprehended and arrested today along with the weapon used in the crime.
The investigation into the suspects is ongoing.
