A new operation to extract ships stranded in the Strait of Hormuz has been launched at the initiative of US President Donald Trump. This was announced by the White House leader through statements on the Truth Social network.
According to Trump, the operation, dubbed "Project Freedom," began on the morning of May 4. Its goal is to escort ships belonging to neutral nations, which are unable to move due to security concerns in the region, to a safe zone.
The President described these vessels as "innocent bystanders with no involvement in the conflict," emphasizing that they have become victims of the tense situation in the region. It was also noted that the operation was launched at the request of international partners.
It is reported that the ships were halted in the Strait of Hormuz area due to tensions in the Strait of Hormuz. During the operation, they will be escorted by the US through a secure corridor.
Trump called the move a "humanitarian step," noting that some of the ships are running low on food and essential supplies. According to him, the US does not rule out the use of force if the operation is obstructed.
However, the Iranian side is approaching this initiative with caution. Ebrahim Azizi stated that any US interference could affect regional peace and potentially violate the ceasefire agreement.
