Marriage proposals in India are 'reversed': girls propose to boys

In some regions of India, marriage traditions may seem unusual to many. It turns out that in some cases, the girl's side takes the initiative and proposes to the boy.
Interestingly, the future groom may also set various demands. In some cases, expensive gifts are requested, such as motorcycles, cars, or even luxury vehicles like a 'Gelik'. Unlike the system we are used to, the financial burden here often falls on the girl's side.
For this reason, many jokingly call this situation an 'upside-down world'. However, experts emphasize that this tradition is linked to social and cultural factors formed over centuries.
For comparison, in Uzbekistan, it is the opposite — usually, the groom's side initiates the proposal, and they often bear the main expenses. Therefore, the sharp differences in customs between countries are sparking great interest.
