European Union fines Temu 200 million euros

The European Union has fined the popular Chinese online marketplace Temu 200 million euros. The platform was held accountable for failing to adequately control the sale of dangerous products.
According to the European Commission, dangerous children's toys, non-compliant chargers, and other illegal products were sold through Temu.
Investigations noted that the company failed to create an effective system for identifying and assessing risks associated with goods. It is also stated that insufficient measures were taken against products threatening consumer safety.
The official investigation into Temu began in October 2024 and lasted nearly two years. The company considers the fine disproportionate and has announced it will take legal action against the decision.
