It was revealed that the missile that hit a house in Poland belonged to an F-16 aircraft

According to the authoritative Polish publication Rzeczpospolita, in the village of Viriki-Vola, located in the east of the country, a house damaged during the entry of Russian drones into the airspace was hit not by remnants of an unmanned aerial vehicle, but by an air-to-air missile launched from a Polish F-16 fighter jet. The source stated that a technical malfunction occurred in the rocket's guidance system during the flight, causing the device to malfunction. A source in government agencies responsible for security announced this in an interview with the newspaper.

The Lublin prosecutor's office, however, did not disclose open information about the incident and limited itself to calling the crashed device an "unknown flying object." However, the newspaper notes that the prosecutor's office has complete information about the incident. With the help of specialists, the remains of 17 drones were easily identified, but official comments on the object that fell on the territory of Viriki were refused. "Currently, this device has not been confirmed as a drone or its parts," the prosecutor's office said in a statement.

In response to the newspaper, the agency's press secretary, Agnieszka Kempka, noted that the investigation is still ongoing, and an official report from special experts is expected for specific conclusions. At the same time, according to a source from Rzeczpospolita, an AIM-120 AMRAAM missile, weighing more than 150 kilograms and reaching a length of three meters, crashed into a house. However, the explosive component of the device did not activate because security systems were activated. Therefore, although the damage to the house was significant, a powerful explosion did not occur.

This situation caused serious controversy in the Polish public. Because the incident occurred after Russian drones violated airspace and at the same time raised questions about the effectiveness of NATO's air defense system. Perhaps, in the future, this event may become a reason for further strengthening of security measures in Poland.
