The mayor of Namangan, Anvar Otakhojayev, demanded the removal of illegally installed traffic radars that are "harming citizens," Podrobno.uz reported. On April 12, he sent an official letter to Mansur Goziev, head of the regional traffic safety department.
In his letter, the mayor noted that radars installed in violation of regulations not only cause financial losses for residents but also increase public dissatisfaction. This undermines trust in national policy and fuels criticism on social media.
Otakhojayev stated that during meetings with the public, there were numerous complaints about fines imposed by automated systems that were installed without following proper standards. Cameras placed on rooftops or light poles are especially controversial.
He requested that these cameras be removed from the system, fines issued through them be canceled, and these measures be implemented in Namangan city as well as Davlatabad and Yangi Namangan districts. Read 'Zamin' on Telegram!
