Magnetic tram to Fuji becomes Japanese solution!
In Japan, an environmentally friendly and unique mode of transport is about to be launched — a rubber-wheeled, rail-less tram will soon hit the road. This new vehicle is being introduced in Yamanashi Prefecture to regulate the flow of visitors to Mount Fuji.

According to The Asahi Shimbun, the Yamanashi government thoroughly analyzed various public transport options — in terms of safety, economic efficiency, capacity to manage visitor numbers, convenience, and environmental impact.

As a result, the most suitable solution chosen was a rubber-wheeled, rail-less tram. This transport, named the "Fuji Tram," will move along specially asphalted roads and be guided by magnetic markers. While this limits maneuverability, it is considered essential for accurate and safe movement.

The tram will operate from the foot of the mountain up to the 5th station, located 2300 meters above sea level. The route passes through some of the most beautiful sceneries on the northern side of Mount Fuji — including areas near Lake Kawaguchiko.

Experts state that this type of transport offers many advantages: it produces low carbon emissions, has a low noise level, is highly safe, and is adapted to the local environment. Most importantly, it is expected to be an effective tool for managing tourist flow.

Once the new transport is operational, private and public vehicles will be prohibited from using the Fuji-Subaru route. This measure aims to reduce the ecological footprint, ease traffic congestion, and protect Mount Fuji.

This innovative project, developed by the Japanese, may become a pioneering step not only in the transport sector but also in preserving ecological balance. Such an approach — promoting tourism while protecting nature — may serve as a model for many countries in the future.
