The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Uzbekistan has presented a new initiative for public discussion — a draft law that provides for the issuance of permits for tinting vehicle windows during May and the summer months at more affordable and reduced prices.
According to the document, permits for tinting the rear and front side windows of M1 category passenger cars will be issued annually within a specific period — from May 1 to August 31. This offers an opportunity to obtain permits for four months under special conditions and at a discounted rate.
Under the new project, the permit fee for individuals and legal entities registered in Uzbekistan is set at one base calculation value — 412,000 soums. This is significantly different from the previous procedure and is perceived as an additional convenience. For foreign legal entities operating in Uzbekistan, the fee will be five base values — about 2,060,000 soums.
In addition, short-term permits — for example, for a few days or weeks — will also be issued at full price, regardless of the date of issuance. That is, the cost will be the same no matter which day you apply.
Interestingly, currently, tinting of only the rear side windows of cars is free of charge, while tinting the front side windows requires payment of eight base values — approximately 3,296,000 soums.
Moreover, driving a vehicle with tinted windows without a proper permit entails a fine of 25 base values (10,300,000 soums) according to Article 126-1 of the Administrative Responsibility Code.
This draft law is currently open for broad public discussion, which will last until August 22, 2025. The ministry plans to take public opinion into account when making the final decision.
Observers believe this initiative will not only create convenience for drivers but also promote a culture of legally modifying vehicles. For thousands of citizens interested in the automotive field, this development is undoubtedly seen as a positive step.
