The effect of the penalty points system implemented for traffic violations from June 1 is more noticeable than before. According to the Road Safety Service, in the first three months after the system's launch, more than 60,000 drivers were registered with penalty points.
Analysis shows that among drivers, only 4 people scored the highest - 5 points, 14 people scored 4 points, and 129 people scored 3 points. The number of drivers who received 2 points was about 5 thousand, and the smallest - about 64 thousand. At the same time, it was noted that more than 9 million 325 thousand drivers across the country received no penalty points.
The implementation of the system significantly increased traffic discipline. In the period from June to August, the number of identified violations amounted to 167 min, which is 58% less than in the same period of 2024, when it amounted to 285 min.
At the same time, the number of road accidents caused by the driver has significantly decreased. While 531 incidents were recorded in 2024, this year this figure dropped to 338, a 36 percent decrease.
Analysis by a traffic police expert shows that the penalty point system not only reduced violations, but also increased responsibility and attention among drivers, increased road safety, and contributes to ensuring stability on the country's roads in general.
