The Government of Uzbekistan introduced a new system of environmental certification by a resolution "On measures to further improve the system for assessing the compliance of wheeled vehicles with the requirements of the environmental category in the republic." This decision is an important step towards improving environmental monitoring and certification in the country's transport sector.
According to the decision, environmental certification for assessing the compliance of new wheeled vehicles of categories M and N imported into Uzbekistan with the requirements of the environmental category will be canceled. From now on, the compliance of these vehicles with the requirements of the environmental category will be assessed based on the requirements of the General Technical Regulations on the Safety of Wheeled Vehicles Released into Circulation in accordance with Resolution No. 237 of 2017.
A separate assessment of vehicles equipped with electric motors for compliance with the requirements of the environmental category is not carried out, i.e., they do not require environmental certification.
These innovations provide for the improvement of environmental standards and the continuation of modernization in the transport sector. In particular, this decision will contribute to the development of imports of new equipment and vehicles that meet high environmental requirements.
