Nissan will produce a more affordable Leaf B5 model

Nissan has presented a new, budget-class electric car — the Leaf B5 model. It is considered a simplified version of the recently announced Leaf B7, according to the website ixbt.com.

According to company representatives, the goal of the new model is to respond to growing competition in Japan. Production of the Leaf B5 is planned for February 2026 and it will be equipped with a 55 kWh battery. Its price is expected to be “more accessible to a wider range of buyers.”

The Leaf B7, on the other hand, will be available for orders in Japan earlier — from October 17, 2025, with first deliveries starting in January 2026. It will feature a 78 kWh battery and a range of 702 km (WLTC cycle). With the help of a 150 kW fast charging system, charging from 10% to 80% is possible in 35 minutes.

The third generation of the Leaf features updates in the energy management and battery cooling systems. The interior is equipped with two 12.3-inch screens. The Leaf B7 X and G configurations will be sold in the $34,000 – $39,000 range.

In the future, Leaf B7 Autech ($42,000) and more affordable Leaf B5 versions will also be presented. The exact price for the Leaf B5 will be announced closer to the start of sales.
