Tesla has introduced its first official retractable sunshade for the panoramic roof of its Model Y electric vehicles. Currently available on the Chinese market for 1,499 yuan (approximately $236), this accessory is designed for vehicles manufactured from February 2025 onwards. This is reported by Ixbt.com news.
The new device allows for manual control of the panoramic roof's tint level. This enables drivers and passengers to quickly switch between enjoying the open sky view and shielding themselves from sunlight. The shade is made of a fabric-like material matching the cabin ceiling, integrating into the interior with a metal handle and a special roller mechanism.
Tesla representatives note that the accessory operates with very low noise and features a simplified installation process. The manufacturer has also prioritized safety: the product has successfully passed all necessary tests for compatibility with the airbag system and road testing.
The kit includes the sunshade itself, installation tools, and decorative covers for the fasteners. Given the dimensions and precision required for installation, Tesla recommends that two people install this accessory.
