Telegram founder Pavel Durov said that there was an attempt to eliminate him by poisoning in 2018. He announced this in an interview with American blogger Lex Friedman.
When the blogger asked him to comment on this event, Durov stated that he had never spoken about it before, as he did not want to worry or frighten people.
According to him, the incident occurred in the spring of 2018. At that time, the Telegram team was raising funds for the TON cryptocurrency, and a number of countries were trying to restrict the messenger.
"I will not get sick at all, I will not take medicines. But then I felt like I was dying," Durov said. When he returned home, he noted that the "strange neighbor" had left something at the door. After some time, while in bed, he began to experience severe pain: his vision and hearing began to fade, and his breathing became difficult.
"The pain intensified in my heart, stomach, and blood vessels. At one point, the thought flashed through my mind: "I've lived a good life, I've achieved something." Then I fell to the floor and then I couldn't remember anything," he recalled.
The next day he woke up on the floor. The blood vessels in his body burst, and he couldn't walk. He was in a very weak state for two weeks and decided not to tell most of his team about it.
When Friedman asked if this event had frightened him, Durov, on the contrary, noted that he felt free: "After that, life feels like a bonus time. Every day is like a new gift."
He didn't reveal any details about what the "strange neighbor" left behind.
