The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office issued an arrest warrant for famous Turkish actress Hande Erçel within the framework of a drug-related case. This was reported by “Cumhuriyet” on March 25.
It is reported that at the time the arrest decision was made, Hande was in London. Currently, she is returning to Turkey together with her partner Onur Güvenatam to give explanations regarding the situation. In her first statement on her Instagram page, the actress noted that she had been abroad due to education.
“Due to education, I have been abroad for about a month. Last evening, like you, I learned about this situation through the media. To clarify the situation, I will return and provide the necessary explanations. I am a person who loves her country and trusts the state and the judicial system of Turkey. I believe the situation will be clarified soon,” she said.
Within the framework of the investigation conducted in Istanbul, a similar decision has been made regarding 16 people. At present, 14 of them have already been detained. This decision also concerns well-known representatives of business and public figures, including Hakan Sabancı and his brother Kerim Sabancı, as well as former Galatasaray club head Burak Elmas, former Beşiktaş president Fikret Orman, former model Güzide Duran and model Didem Soydan.
It is noted that the three-year romantic relationship between Hande Erçel and Hakan Sabancı ended in August 2025.
