Uzbekistan raises customs duties on imports of small-engine cars

O'zbekistonda kichik hajmli avtomobillar import bojxona bojlari oshdi

In Uzbekistan, starting from January 1, 2026, preferential duty rates applied to the import of new passenger cars with engine capacity up to 1,200 cc have been отменed. Tariffs returned to previous levels because the preferences introduced 2.5 years ago to boost competition in the car market have expired. This was reported by podrobno.uz reports .

Under the new rules, for cars with engines up to 1,000 cc, the duty rate has increased from 0% to 15% of the vehicle’s value, plus an additional $0.4 per cubic centimeter. For cars with engines up to 1,200 cc, instead of the previous 5% preference, a 15% duty and a $0.6 per cubic centimeter charge have been set.

These preferences had been in effect since July 2023 and applied to new vehicles that were no more than one year old. Since the government did not extend the preferential period, customs clearance for small-engine cars has become significantly more expensive from the start of the year.
