44 officials dismissed due to energy losses

In a significant shake-up within the energy sector, 44 leaders of regional electricity companies were dismissed due to high energy losses. The critical meeting, led by Energy Minister Jorabek Mirzamakhmudov, addressed systemic shortcomings and emphasized the urgent need to enhance energy efficiency and reduce losses. Inspections revealed serious issues, prompting the formation of special working groups to address these problems, including the repair and modernization of over 25,000 transformer stations. The meeting also highlighted the need to combat illegal connections and energy theft, raising questions about whether the newly appointed leaders will be able to restore trust in the system.
Major changes have begun in the energy sector. During a critical meeting held at the Hududiy Elektr Tarmoqlari joint-stock company, led by Minister of Energy Jurabek Mirzamahmudov, systemic shortcomings were discussed in detail. During the meeting, 44 heads of district and city power enterprises were dismissed from their positions due to high levels of electricity losses in their respective areas.
In his address, the Minister emphasized that increasing energy efficiency, ensuring the rational use of resources, and drastically reducing losses are among the most urgent tasks today. In this regard, existing problems in the sector were analyzed in a critical manner.
It was reported that the meeting at Hududiy Elektr Tarmoqlari JSC was attended by network executives and officials from regional electricity and gas supply enterprises. The results of inspections conducted by supervisory bodies were also reviewed.
Specifically, studies conducted by the Inspectorate for Control over the Use of Electricity, Petroleum Products, and Gas revealed a number of serious shortcomings. To address these issues, special working groups have been established in the regions. They have inspected a total of 106,140 transformer substations, identifying 25,668 that require repairs. Currently, the restoration and modernization of these facilities are being carried out in stages.

The meeting also set specific tasks for replacing old wires in overloaded power grids, modernizing infrastructure, and accelerating reconstruction work. Strengthening measures to prevent illegal connections and energy theft was also highlighted as a priority.
As one of the most stringent measures, officials in areas where electricity losses exceeded 20 percent were removed from their posts. Specifically, 14 officials were dismissed in the Andijan branch, 7 in Jizzakh, 10 in Samarkand, 4 in Kashkadarya, and 2 each in the Syrdarya, Tashkent, and Fergana regions.
Shortcomings in the gas supply system were also subject to severe criticism during the meeting. In particular, it was announced that an order had been issued for the dismissal of the head of the Hududgaz Xorazm branch.
Such decisive measures are aimed at strengthening discipline in the sector, ensuring the efficient use of resources, and providing the population with a stable energy supply. The main question now is whether the newly appointed leaders will be able to justify this trust or not? Time will provide a clear answer to this question.
