Weddings in Uzbekistan are held with the mentality of the 19th century. Historian Bakhtiyor Kholmurodov expressed his opinion on this in his YouTube appearance.
The “Kurultoy” podcast analyzed social problems related to Uzbek weddings. Bakhtiyor Kholmurodov said that the time has come to reduce spending on weddings and spend money on education.
“In 2014, there was an Institute for Monitoring Civil Society. At that time, I received information from my mentor Bakhtiyor aka Isakov. He gave a number. This should not only alert us, but also worry us. That year, Tajikistan's GDP was about $ 10 billion.
The people of Uzbekistan spent $7.5 billion on weddings in the same year. This is the data for 2014. I also got the data for 2024 from my teacher. Wedding expenses have increased to almost $12 billion. That is, very large numbers. Behind this lies the fate of man. It is time to spend the money saved from weddings on education, to take this seriously.
The reason is that in the 21st century, one cannot live with the thinking of the 16th or 19th century. Alikhantora Soguniy had the following thoughts:
"If the Uzbeks were united in any work, as they were in the morning when they went to eat plov, they would not be a great nation like they are.",
There is a very big meaning behind this, the expert said.
