The Uzbek delegation held talks with officials from a number of Slovak official departments, in particular, the Ministries of Internal Affairs, Foreign Affairs, Labor, Social Affairs and Family.

The main attention was paid to issues such as supporting legal migration, attracting specialists from Uzbekistan to vacant positions in Slovakia, and reducing the terms of issuing work visas.

The Slovak side emphasized that last year a total of 3,000 quotas were allocated for citizens of Central Asian countries, but most of them soon left Slovakia and moved to other European Union countries. This, it was stated, contributes to illegal migration.

As a solution to such issues, it was agreed to work together on digitizing migration flows and to set quotas separately for Uzbekistan.

It was also expressed confidence that a draft Intergovernmental Agreement aimed at regulating migration processes between the two countries would be developed and that positive decisions would be made soon.
