Among all areas of tourism in Uzbekistan, ecotourism has been developing rapidly in recent years. The unique natural landscapes, vast mountain ranges and biological wealth of our country attract not only domestic but also foreign tourists.
Global importance of ecotourism
According to the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), ecotourism currently accounts for 7% of the world tourism market, and this share is growing every year. The Zarafshan, Hissar, Ugam-Chatkal, Surkhan mountain ranges in Uzbekistan, as well as Kyzylkum and other regions have great potential for this direction.
The season has begun, who is responsible?
With the warming of the days, many citizens go out to relax in the lap of nature. But unfortunately, in many cases we leave behind various waste products. This waste - especially plastic, glass and other non-biodegradable products - does not decompose for many years, causing serious damage to the environment. As a result, nature becomes a victim of human momentary leisure.
Ecotourism - not just a trip, but also a responsibility
The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) defines ecotourism as follows:
“Ecotourism is responsible travel to natural areas, which serves to protect the environment and improve the well-being of local people.”
The main principles of ecotourism are:
- preservation of nature and ecological balance;
- cooperation with local people;
- respect for cultural and natural heritage;
- contribution to sustainable development.
Not just a tourist, but a part of nature
Every time we go on vacation, we should feel like we are not just spectators, but an integral part of nature. Protecting nature is not only our responsibility for future generations, but also for our own lives.
