A very unusual situation was recorded in the Tashkent region - citizens tried to hide gold bars inside a baby diaper and take them out of the country. This was reported by the regional customs department.
It was reported that the passenger leaving Uzbekistan was checked in the prescribed manner by the employees of the "Yallama" border customs post. When her handbag was examined, it was found that there was a baby diaper inside, and two gold bars were hidden in it.
As a result of the inspection, it was revealed that the total weight of these castings is 111 grams, and their estimated value is about 133 million soums. Currently, customs authorities are conducting an investigation into this fact.
Experts emphasize that such cases constitute not only a violation of the law but also a threat to the country's economic security. Customs officials say that some citizens still aim to get rich quickly by smuggling gold, but these attempts are quickly exposed.
According to the legislation, individuals can export finished gold jewelry up to 65 grams without declaration, and more - only on the basis of a passenger declaration. Violation of this requirement entails liability.
We remind you that a similar situation was previously observed at the Termez airport in Surkhandarya region. A passenger was apprehended by customs officers while attempting to smuggle out five antique coins.
Customs authorities urge citizens to comply with the law and refrain from engaging in illegal activities in pursuit of financial gain. Because each such attempt not only leads to criminal liability, but also casts a shadow on the country's reputation.
