Tashkent metro will receive 56 new cars in 2026

In order to renew the activities of the Tashkent Metro and create conveniences for passengers, it is planned to purchase 56 modern metro cars in 2026. This was reported by the company's press service.

According to the information, the acquisition of new cars will update the existing rolling stock in the metro, as well as reduce the interval of trains between stations and further stabilize passenger traffic.

Metro management reacted to complaints about traffic jams appearing on social networks, noting that significant work has been done in the capital over the past six years. During this period, more than 33 kilometers of new routes and 21 stations were built and put into operation.

As a result, the number of Tashkent metro stations has now reached 50, with a total length of 71 kilometers. This is the largest scale of infrastructure upgrades in the city's history.

If in 2021 the metro served 280-300 thousand passengers per day, then in 2024 this figure reached 920-930 thousand. Currently, the metro serves more than 1 million people a day.

Due to the rapid increase in passenger numbers, the interval between trains has been reduced during peak hours - from 07:30 to 09:00 - over the past three years. This measure contributes to reducing traffic congestion and ensuring faster passenger arrivals.

According to the metro administration, the new cars, which will be delivered in 2026, will not only increase speed and comfort, but will also be equipped with modern safety systems and energy-saving technologies. This, in turn, is expected to make the capital's metro one of the most advanced transport systems in the region.
