Law enforcement agencies in Payariq district of Samarkand region are investigating the death of a newborn found in a trash container located in the toilet area next to a local maternity ward. This was reported by podrobno.uz. reports .
CCTV footage helped identify the baby’s mother. Investigators are currently awaiting forensic results for a final conclusion—based on these documents, a decision will be made on whether to open a criminal case.
The woman said she made this decision after being refused a request to terminate the pregnancy at the hospital. As a result, the delivery took place outdoors near the medical facility, after which she threw the newborn into a trash container and fled the scene.
The regional Department of Internal Affairs is determining the circumstances of the baby’s death. It is noted that the forensic conclusion will be a decisive factor in establishing the degree of the mother’s guilt.
