3 people arrested in Surkhandarya in connection with woman locked in barn with baby

In Surkhandarya, the court delivered a verdict in the case of a woman who was confined in a dairy farm with her infant. This was reported by the press secretary of the Supreme Court, Aziz Obidov.

Previously, reports of violence and threats against the woman and her newborn child in the Uzun district were investigated by the regional Internal Affairs Department.

It was found that the woman’s husband and his relatives, taking advantage of her speech impairment and difficulty in fully expressing her thoughts, kept her in the dairy farm for several months with her five-month-old child.

According to the case, the Uzun District Court found a man born in 1981 in Surkhandarya guilty under Articles 126-1, 127, 25, 135, and 138 of the Criminal Code (domestic violence, involving a minor in antisocial acts, human trafficking, illegal deprivation of liberty using force, etc.).

Additionally, M.Sh. (born 1975), K.Sh. (born 1978), and Z.A. (born 1951) were found guilty under Articles 104, 127, 25, 135, and 138 of the Criminal Code. They committed crimes including human trafficking, illegal deprivation of liberty using force, involving minors in antisocial acts, and intentional infliction of grievous bodily harm.

The court sentenced: A.Sh. — 13 years imprisonment, M.Sh. and K.Sh. — 9 years imprisonment, Z.A. — 5 years restriction of liberty.
