In Andijan, a brother with mental health problems killed his older brother by striking him with an axe and attempted to kill his sister-in-law using a hammer. The incident occurred on October 18, 2025, in the “Cholpon Yuz Yilligi” neighborhood.
According to court materials, the man had been registered with a psychoneurological dispensary since 2020 and had been living in the same house with his brother and sister-in-law. After family members discussed placing him in a psychiatric hospital, he became enraged and decided to kill them.
The sister-in-law managed to escape and call for help, after which a neighboring woman intervened and took the hammer away from the attacker.
A psychiatric examination concluded that A.B. was unable to understand the significance of his actions at the time of the crime. On December 18, the court found that he committed the offense while legally insane, canceled the detention measure, and ordered compulsory treatment in a republican psychiatric hospital with enhanced supervision.
