It was reported that the former Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, Major General Bekmurod Abdullayev, was detained and taken into custody as a precautionary measure. This information was provided by two independent sources of Kun.uz.
Responding to Kun.uz's inquiry, the press secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Shokhrukh Giyasov, did not deny this news, but stated that the Prosecutor General's Office is handling the matter. The press secretary of the Prosecutor General, Hayat Shamsutdinov, did not want to comment, but did not deny the information about his arrest.
Most importantly, no clear and precise information has been provided about what exactly Abdullayev is accused of. Kun.uz also noted that there are no official details about the content of the charges.
For information, Bekmurod Abdullayev worked as Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs - Head of the Public Security Department since April 2021, and was dismissed on November 3, 2025. On the same day, the head of the Department for the Execution of Punishments under the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Rustam Tursunov, was also relieved of his post by presidential decree.
Interestingly, a Kun.uz source writes that Rustam Tursunov was also involved in the investigation within the framework of this case, and he was also detained as a precautionary measure. Official agencies have not yet provided official information on the criminal case against the two former officials.
There is another context behind these reports: it is also recalled that President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, in his address to parliament and the people on December 26, 2025, called corrupt officials "betrayal of reforms" and said that a "state of emergency" in the fight against corruption would be declared in 2026.
The conclusion is this: for now, the main question in the public is "what is the accusation?" Until an official statement is made, it is too early to draw a definitive conclusion on the case. But one thing is clear: any investigation surrounding high-ranking officials causes a great resonance in society - now everything depends on the results of the investigation and official information.
