After 15 years, the unjustly accused customs officer was acquitted

Former inspector A. Abdullayev (name changed), who worked at the "Fergana" customs post of the Fergana Regional Customs Administration, was fully acquitted by court decision after 15 years.

It turned out that in 2010, he was found guilty of bribery, sentenced to four years in prison, and deprived of the right to work in customs authorities. However, the case was reviewed in cassation, and it was established that the charges against him were not confirmed by reliable and sufficient evidence.

During the trial, the former inspector stated that he was pressured during the investigation and forced to admit guilt due to torture. The witness testimonies also confirmed his innocence.

At the same time, during the inspection, it became known that A. Abdullayev did not work at this customs post at all at the time of the indictment.

As a result, the Fergana Regional Court overturned the 2010 verdict, found the former inspector innocent, and fully acquitted him. He was also explained that he has the right to recover the material and moral damage caused within the framework of the law.

For information, during 2025, a total of 422 people were acquitted by the country's courts. This testifies to the consistent strengthening of the principles of justice and independence in the judicial system.
