The Ministry of Internal Affairs issued an official statement regarding the death in the pre-trial detention center in Samarkand
Earlier, it was reported that an employee of a gas supply company in the Kattakurgan district of the Samarkand region died in custody. Zamon.uz received an explanation from the regional Department of Internal Affairs regarding this situation and reported that the deceased had diabetes.
The head of the information service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Shokhrukh Giyasov, also gave an official response to this situation.
It is noted that on February 21 around 17:35, the health of citizen Kh.K., born in 1991, detained in pre-trial detention center No. 7, located in Kattakurgan district, deteriorated sharply.
It was reported that he was arrested by the Kattakurgan District Prosecutor's Office under Article 168, Part 3, Clause "v" and Article 28, and Article 211, Part 1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The citizen died at approximately 6:00 PM on the same day while being taken to the Kattakurgan City Medical Association due to deteriorating health.
According to the conclusion of the forensic medical examination, the death of the deceased occurred as a result of "severe complications of type 2 diabetes mellitus." Also, no traces of injuries were found on his body.
For information, on February 18, 2026, the accused Kh.K. was taken to the Kattakurgan City Medical Association due to illness, his brother Kh.Kh. was informed about this, and an additional meeting was organized for them in the hospital.
After the necessary medical procedures, on February 20, 2026, based on the conclusion of doctors, the defendant's health was deemed satisfactory, and he was returned to the detention center.
Currently, the prosecutor's office is conducting a pre-investigation check on this fact.
