As part of his visit to the Fergana region, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev inspected important facilities aimed at developing football infrastructure in the region. In particular, he closely familiarized himself with the conditions created at the center belonging to the regional football association and the "Neftchi" children's football academy.
It is known that the Fergana region is recognized as one of the strongest football schools in our country. Over the years, this land has produced many talented players, making a worthy contribution to the development of national football. Especially, the "Neftchi" club, founded in 1962, has achieved significant success in its history. The team has won the Uzbekistan Super League 6 times, the country's cup 2 times, and the Super Cup once.
Furthermore, "Neftchi" reached the final of the CIS Cup in 1994 and demonstrated its potential on the international stage by winning bronze medals in the Asian Champions League during the 1994–1995 season.
In recent years, great attention has been paid to further popularizing football in the region, identifying young talents, and training them at a professional level. To this end, the "Neftchi" children's football academy was established in 2025 and has quickly become a modern sports facility.
The academy occupies an area of more than 4.5 hectares and accommodates over 150 young football players. Six football pitches of various sizes have been built here, and all necessary conditions for training have been created. Additionally, a physiotherapy department equipped with modern medical and rehabilitation equipment is in operation.
The academy's infrastructure also includes an indoor football arena with an artificial surface and an air dome, valued at 1.1 million dollars. This facility allows young athletes to conduct regular training throughout the year, regardless of weather conditions.
Training processes are organized based on international requirements. In this regard, it was noted that UEFA instructors and foreign specialists have been involved. This serves to further enhance the skills of the young football players.
During the visit, the head of state inspected the conditions at the academy, held a sincere dialogue with the young players, and observed their training sessions. He highly praised the opportunities being created for the youth and emphasized that such initiatives will yield results in the future.
In short, football infrastructure in Fergana is developing consistently. The conditions being created will undoubtedly serve to discover new stars in the future.
