An Uzbek citizen, S.J., who had been stranded in Pakistan for many years under difficult living conditions, has finally returned to her homeland. This humanitarian effort was carried out through the efforts of Uzbekistan's diplomatic mission in Pakistan. This was reported by the Dunyo news agency.

It was reported that the woman contacted the embassy in February of this year, requesting practical assistance to return to her homeland. During the investigation, it was determined that she had been living in Pakistan without a visa—illegally—since 2005 and had fallen into a dire social situation.

The circumstances surrounding S.J. are quite dramatic. She traveled to Pakistan in 2005 to marry a Pakistani citizen. However, that same year, her husband was involved in a traffic accident and became disabled. Since then, the woman had spent years caring for her husband and managing his health. Although his condition has relatively improved, the effects of his disability remain.

During the investigation, it was revealed that the woman's financial resources were extremely limited, with her income only sufficient to cover basic daily needs. Consequently, it had become virtually impossible for her to return to Uzbekistan on her own.

After the Uzbek embassy confirmed the citizen's identity and citizenship, a return certificate was issued for her. Furthermore, as a result of negotiations with the Pakistani Ministry of Interior, an $8,400 fine, which had been imposed for her 21-year unauthorized stay, was waived, and she was granted official permission to leave the country.

In addition, the diplomatic mission resolved the issue of her airfare, and S.J. was brought back to Uzbekistan on May 2.

This incident serves as another clear example of the practical assistance and attention provided by the state to compatriots who find themselves in difficult situations abroad.
