2025 began as a historic period filled with significant events for Central Asian football. Abdukodir Khusanov, the central defender of the Uzbekistan national team, and Kazakhstan's young talent Dastan Satpaev managed to attract the attention of the football community by signing contracts with prominent European clubs.
In particular, on January 20, Abdulkodir Husanov signed a long-term agreement with the famous English club Manchester City. The Manchester club paid 40 million euros to the French club Lens for this transfer and agreed to an additional bonus of 10 million euros.
Shortly afterward, another transfer news appeared. 16-year-old Dastan Satpaev, trained by Kazakhstan's Kairat club, signed an agreement with the renowned London club Chelsea. The English club spent 4.3 million euros on this talented attacking player. However, Satpaev will stay with Kairat until he turns 18 to gain more experience.
These transfers sparked active discussions and comparisons of the two young talents among football experts and fans. Ali Aliyev, acting head coach of the Kazakhstan national team, caused considerable controversy by rating Dastan Satpaev above Abdukodir Khusanov, who had already proven himself in the French and English leagues.
"I consider Dastan stronger than Khusanov. Look at his genetics; he's a true athlete. All efforts must be made to elevate him to Europe's highest level. If he can prove himself internationally, he'll attract the attention of players like Arda Güler and Endrick from Real Madrid," Ali Aliyev expressed.
However, another renowned figure in Kazakh football, Bulat Esmagambetov, disagreed and praised Abdukodir Khusanov highly:
"Khusanov is genuinely a top-level footballer. His potential is immense; I've watched his games in the French championship. It's no coincidence that Manchester City invited him. Comparing him to Dastan Satpaev isn't correct, as they play in different positions, and their levels and qualities differ significantly. Abdulkodir is very fast, powerful, and clearly developing into a high-level player," Esmagambetov told local media.
After participating in the Belarusian and French championships, Abdukodir Khusanov became the first Uzbek player to debut in the English Premier League. His contract with Manchester City runs until the summer of 2029. Transfermarkt portal values him at 35 million euros.
Meanwhile, Dastan Satpaev began successfully performing in the Kazakhstan Premier League this year. After turning 18 in 2026, he will join Chelsea's youth team. According to Transfermarkt, his current transfer value is 500,000 euros. Read 'Zamin' on Telegram!
