Both have been important members of Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool coaching staff in recent years. Leinders, in particular, has extensive experience as one of Klopp's main assistants. Now he will become Guardiola's right-hand man at City.
James Franz, on the other hand, will work as a standards specialist specializing in modern training methods. His task will be to work on the team's positional play, set-piece actions and tactical structure.
These changes show that Pep Guardiola is determined to achieve high results in the new season. The head coach, who has won the English championship several times, is also using former opponents' specialists to make his staff more effective.
