Croatia national team captain Luka Modrić has ended his historic journey with Madrid's legendary club “Real Madrid” and bid a heartfelt farewell to the team and its millions of fans.
During 13 seasons with “Los Blancos,” the midfielder played with all his heart, winning 28 tournaments and becoming the most decorated player in Real Madrid’s history.
— It’s not easy to say these words. An unforgettable, glorious, and victory-filled journey has come to an end. My years in Madrid were like a dream, and every moment will remain engraved in my heart, — said Modrić in his farewell message.
He emphasized that Real gave him everything not only as a footballer but also helped him grow as a person.
— I grew as a person here. Madrid gave me one of the most important things in my life — a second home. Now Spain and Madrid are part of my heart. I’m sure that over time, I will truly realize the value of what I’ve achieved, because it takes time to process all the emotions I’ve experienced here, — he noted.
Modrić also highlighted the fans’ love and support as one of the greatest treasures in his life:
— Beyond the trophies, there’s also the love of the fans. That’s something no one can take away from you. You can’t fool people — they show you genuine affection. I believe they loved me not only for being a Real Madrid player but also for who I am as a person, — said the Croatian star.
