South Korea national team captain and Tottenham Hotspur striker Son Heung-min has officially announced that he is leaving the club, according to ESPN.
The 33-year-old forward has played for the North London side since 2015 and has become one of the club’s key figures. In his farewell, Son reflected on his journey and the difficulty of his decision.
“This was one of the hardest decisions of my life, but I believe the time was right. I hope everyone understands me and respects this decision.
I came to North London as a 23-year-old who couldn’t even speak English. Now I leave this club as a grown man, and I’m incredibly proud of that,” Son stated sincerely.
Reports had previously linked Son with a move to MLS club Los Angeles FC. Official confirmation of his next destination is expected soon.
